Downloader guide

What a public source-media download does — and does not — provide

Reviewed September 2, 2026

Peektok's downloader opens an available source-media link for a public TikTok post. It does not require a TikTok login and does not permanently store a copy of the video on Peektok's servers.

A downloaded file is still subject to creator rights, music rights, privacy rights, platform terms, and local law. File quality, format, audio, and watermark status depend on the source response and are not guaranteed.

How to evaluate the file

Temporary source link

The button opens the source-media URL already returned by your lookup; it does not request a new URL. A repeated lookup can return cached data. Links can expire or fail in some regions; files are not copied to Peektok storage.

Available file quality

The returned file reflects the version exposed by the source. Resolution, bitrate, audio, captions, and watermark status can vary by post and provider, so no single quality level is guaranteed.

No ownership transfer

Downloading changes where a file is stored, not who owns it. Creator rights, music rights, privacy rights, platform terms, and local law can still limit reuse or republication.

Uses to avoid

  • Do not download private, restricted, paid, leaked, or otherwise unauthorized material.
  • Do not remove attribution to impersonate a creator or make edited footage appear original.
  • Do not repost, sell, train on, or use someone else's content commercially unless you have permission or another valid legal basis.
  • Peektok cannot decide whether fair use, quotation, archiving, or another exception applies to a particular case.

Before saving a file

  1. 1.Confirm that the post is public and that you have permission or another valid basis to download it.
  2. 2.Keep the original TikTok URL and creator name with the file.
  3. 3.Use the creator's official download option when it is available and meets your needs.
  4. 4.For publishing, commercial use, or disputes, get advice appropriate to your jurisdiction.

A downloader is not a license

Peektok is intended for lawful, limited use. If a rights holder reports a public reference displayed by this service, the report is reviewed through the removal process. Repeat abuse, automated bulk downloading, and attempts to bypass access controls are prohibited by the terms.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About the TikTok Downloader

How do I actually save the video after clicking Download?

If a source-media file is available, it opens in a new browser tab. Use the browser controls to save it only when you have the right to do so; format and availability are not guaranteed.

Does this store copies of videos?

Peektok does not permanently host a copy of the video. Your browser opens a temporary link supplied by the available source-media host.

Why is the download without a watermark?

The available source-media file may differ from the copy created by TikTok's in-app share flow. Watermark status is not guaranteed and can vary by post or provider.

Why does a download sometimes fail?

Source-media links can expire or be region-restricted. Try the lookup again to request a fresh available link.

Is downloading a TikTok video legal?

Downloading does not grant a license. Save only content you own, have permission to use, or may lawfully copy under rules that apply to you.
